Should community colleges support ESL students to reach their goals IF the goals dont seem to align with the mission of the community college?
I really don't know how I feel about colleges supporting the ESL student to reach their goals that's aren't aligned with the mission of the community collage because they barely help American's reach their goals if they are not align with the community colleges. CC's already don't have the proper tools and funds to help all its students, its not fair for them to go outta there way to do for foreigners when you have students like me who are struggling in CC.

What helps you succeed in your community?
What helps you succeed in your community?
What prevents your success?
Crime:
I wasn't brought up in a horrible environment, but it also wasn't the best either. I lived in Oakland, Ca. for over 13 years and I seen a lot of bad things from drugs, to killings. I don't want to raise a chill or start a family in that environment, so everyday that is my motivation to do something better with my life. I don't want to be a product of my environment.
Money:
Money for me goes in both category's because it is a motivation for me as well. right now I have a job and have been working since the age 15. I don't make a lot of money but I do understand the value of a dollar and I do have every expansive taste as far as clothing, and food. I know that the things that I want in life require me to have a good job to get them.
There are many things that help me want to succeed with in my community, perfect example my family. My family are a great encouragement, they push me to do better everyday in school and in my personal life. I also love the support of my boyfriend, he is also a very great support system as well. I am sometimes a very fickle, and hard to understand person, but my boyfriend helps keep me sane especially when my family gets on my nerves.

Success
How do I define success??
"The fact of getting or achieving wealth, respect, or fame the correct or desired result of an attempt."Success can be made from anything you set as a goal and achieve. If you set a goal to get an A or an 100% on your next exam and you get what you set as your goal, then you have reached success. During my 21 years of growing up I have set so many goals for my self on a daily, some long term, some short as well, Some are very easy to achieve others I am still working on. The older I get the more I am understanding that its okay for my goals to change frequently, because sometimes the way I anticipate things to happen or work don't always go as planned, so I have to set another goal in order to reach success.
SCHOOL
Right now school is my most anticipated long term goal. I am in the process of getting my degree in Apparel Design and Merchandising. Once I receive that piece of paper saying I've completed my goal, then I will mark that off my list as a success. I have a lot of other things in the future that I plan to succeed in , but a lot of them cant be done until I get my degree. For example, I want to get a great job in my field of work with a great pay rate, eventually own my own home, and car, and have enough money to wear I can live comfortably with my family. Until then my short term goals will get me closer and closer to what I want.
